Tarla seeks to expand educational opportunity in ways that are life-changing for children and transforming for all she comes into contact with.  She strives to be the leader, and develop leaders necessary to realize educational excellence and equity.  To this end she works in purposeful, strategic, and resourceful ways, defines broadly what is within her control to solve, and learn and improve constantly.

Tarla acts on her belief that the movement to ensure educational equity will succeed only if it is diverse in every respect.  In particular, she values the perspective and credibility that individuals who share the racial and economic backgrounds of the students with whom they work can bring to the organization, classrooms, and the long term effort for change.  She values the strengths, experiences, and perspectives of others, and recognizes limitations.

Tarla Crumb is committed to partnering effectively with families, schools, and communities to ensure that the work advances the broader good for all children.
